Pride Month 2024

We’re proud to support Pride Month throughout June.

In honour of Pride Month, the Progress flag will be raised outside the General Offices to celebrate diversity within our communities and workforce.

Pride month is about acceptance, equality, celebrating the work of LGBTQ+ people, education in LGBTQ+ history and raising awareness of issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community.

Pride day is celebrated on the 28th, the day marks the date in history when the Stonewall uprisings which took place in New York in 1969. Pride Month aims to commemorate the uprising which had ripple effects around the globe and shaped reforms in law and acceptance of LGBTQ+ identity.

Pride Events

Blaenau Gwent Council will be supporting

Equality Officer along with community members and pupils from Ebbw Fawr Community School will be marching in the parade at the Pride Cymru 2024 event in Cardiff on Saturday 22nd June. They will be attending, alongside other Welsh Local Authorities, under the ‘Proud Councils’ banner.
