To help encourage and increase the recycling within Blaenau Gwent, the Authority operates a three weekly collection service. To find out your collection day visit MyServices.
Due to rising waste disposal costs and strict Welsh Government Statutory recycling targets, we will no longer collect additional bags left at the side of your bin (side waste). Any excess waste / bags will be left at the collection point. Residents that cannot accommodate a wheeled bin will be allowed a maximum of four full black bin bags.
If you have large items to dispose of, these can be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centre, or you can arrange for a bulky Waste collection as detailed in other website pages. We also provide a weekly recycling collection (including a weekly nappy / hygiene collection service on request) which will help ensure you have sufficient space in your black wheeled bin.
What happens if I place excess side waste out for collection?
The council will be monitoring collections and advising residents how they can recycle more, and reduce the amount of waste put out for disposal. As a last resort where residents regularly put out too much and have not taken advice on recycling, then the Council WILL take enforcement action. A fine of £100 WILL be issued if you continually put out excess black bag waste.
Please keep these items out of your black refuse bags!
