The Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, in exercise of their powers under Section 84 (1) (a) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part Ill of Schedule 9 to that Act hereby make the following Order: -
1. In this Order except where otherwise stated any reference in this Order to a numbered Article or Schedule is a reference to the Article or Schedule bearing that number in this Order.
2. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 (forty) miles per hour on the length of road specified in the Schedule 2 and Schedule 4 to this Order.
3. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 (fifty) miles per hour on the length of road specified in the Schedule 1, Schedule 3 and Schedule 5 to this Order.
This Order shall come into operation on the XXXXX and may be cited as Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council (A4048, New Road/Newport Road, Tredegar) (40mph and 50mph Speed Limit) Order 2026.
SCHEDULE 1
50 MPH SPEED LIMIT
A4048/Pochin Crescent, Tredegar Roundabout
Pochin Crescent: from its junction with the roundabout for a distance of 22m in a easterly direction.
A4048 from its junction with New Road/Pochin Crescent roundabout for a distance of 25m in a northerly direction.
From its junction with A4048/Pochin Crescent roundabout for a distance of 1.2 km in a southerly direction.
SCHEDULE 2
40 MPH SPEED LIMIT
A4048
From a point 1.2 km from its junction with A4048 roundabout to a point 107m south of the turning to Bedwellty Pits for a distance of approximately 318 metres in a south easterly direction.
SCHEDULE 3
50 MPH SPEED LIMIT
A4048
From a point 107m south of the turning to Bedwellty Pits to a point 183m north of the turning to Pochin Houses for a distance of approximately 1.17km in a southerly direction.
SCHEDULE 4
40 MPH SPEED LIMIT
A4048
From a point 183m north of the turning to Pochin Houses to a point 153m south of the turning to Pochin Houses for a distance of approximately 336m in a southerly direction.
SCHEDULE 5
50 MPH SPEED LIMIT
A4048 Newport Road, Tredegar
From a point 153m south of the turning to Pochin Houses for a distance of approximately 1.1km in a southerly direction.
