Blaenau Gwent is responsible for maintaining 416km of public highway with associated footways, structures, verges, drainage and signs that requires constant maintenance to keep the infrastructure in working order. The primary duties of the Highway Authority is to maintain a safe passage to all users of the highway network via a system of regular detailed inspections carried out by Highway Inspectors.
