Adoption Support Services

South East Wales Adoption Service

South East Wales Adoption Service, known as SEWAS, are the local adoption service for people living in Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen.  In addition to those living within our local authority areas, we also welcome enquiries from our surrounding areas too. SEuAS is part of the National Adoption Service for Wales.

SEWAS provides information about adoption, helps people achieve their hopes of becoming parents, supports adoptive families within our area and provides advice for anyone with questions about adoption.

The SEWAS family aims to make adoption in South East Wales as streamlined and easy as possible for prospective adoptive parents and consists of four teams to make that happen:

Recruitment & Assessment

We will support you to become an adoptive parent. Our recruitment and assessment team will prepare and guide you throughout the process, right from your first initial enquiry, throughout your assessment and until you become an ‘approved adopter’.

Family Finding

Our family finding team will support you through the linking and matching process, supporting parents and children to find the best adoption match for families. We will also provide support and training for families as needed.

Adoption Support

Our adoption support team is there for anyone affected by adoption, whether you are an adopted person, adoptive parents or a birth family member. The adoption support team are at the heart of our SEWAS adoption community, running regular groups and providing advice and support.

Business Support Team

This team ensures that SEWAS runs smoothly, meeting all the administrative needs of the service.

SEWAS has a website southeastwalesadoption.co.uk.  This is the best place to find all up to date information and start any enquiries into adoption.
