We are excited to announce a small-scale pilot program of Rheinmetall’s Curb Charger, an in kerb electric vehicle (EV) charger – It is a new charging solution that enables EV charging directly from a charger installed within the kerb, without obstructing footpaths or public space.

Example of the Rheinmetall in-Curb EV charger installed at street level.
Unlike traditional chargepoints these chargers are installed flush with the pavement, offering a safe, discreet, and convenient way for residents to charge their EV’s on the street, especially in areas without off street parking, a support tool is available for residents with mobility challenges.
Please note: We are currently in the process of selecting a charge point operator partner, so we are unable to confirm the cost of charging at this stage. However, we are committed to keeping charging as affordable as possible for residents.

We are Looking for Participants for this Pilot.
As part of this pilot, we are seeking expressions of interest from residents who:
- Own or lease an electric or hybrid vehicle (or who are planning to before March 2026)
- Do not have access to off street parking.
- Are interested in having the ability to charge near their home.
This is your opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge trial that could help shape the rollout of EV charging infrastructure across Blaenau Gwent.
Why Get Involved?
- Discreet design: installed at pavement level to avoid street clutter.
- Convenient: charge your EV near home, with no trailing cables.
- Accessible for all: A support tool is available to help residents with mobility challenges or limited hand movement or strength plug in the charging cable safely and easily.
- Safe: designed for pedestrian safety and accessibility.
- Future focused: be part of building a greener, more inclusive community.
Please note: as with our existing on-street charging trial, taking part in the trial will not guarantee parking outside your home or the installed charger.
