Eva Clarke, who survived the Holocaust, was today officially awarded the Freedom of the County Borough of Blaenau Gwent, at the General Offices Ebbw Vale.
The honour was presented by Councillor Steve Thomas, Leader of Blaenau Gwent, in recognition of the significant work that Mrs Clarke does in sharing testimonials of her family’s experiences for future generations. Mrs Clarke regularly speaks publicly of her family's experiences during the Holocaust and volunteers as a speaker for the Holocaust Educational Trust. Through her testimonials, she hopes people learn from the Holocaust and combat modern day instances of racism and prejudice.
