The Finance Awards Wales 2022 have shortlisted the Blaenau Gwent Council Capital/Payments Team, led by Joanne Watts, in the category of Small Finance Team of the Year and Finance Officer, Jordan Harley, in the Accounts Technician of the Year category. This glittering ceremony takes place at Cardiff’s City Hall on Friday 24th June 2022.
The Finance Awards Wales showcases the achievements of Wales’ fast growing finance sector and celebrates those individuals and companies who have shown outstanding talent throughout the Welsh finance profession. The Awards recognise everyone from Finance Directors to Chief Financial Officers and the next generation of apprenticeships and graduates.
Jordan who was winner of the Accounts Technician Award in 2021, was the first Council employee to win this title and has been recognised again for his outstanding accounting talents.
Jordan commented:
“Reaching the finals of this prestigious award for the second time is more than I could ever have hoped for. I would like to thank Aspire Blaenau Gwent who gave me the Apprenticeship opportunity at Blaenau Gwent CBC, my work colleagues and tutors at Coleg y Cymoedd. My ambition is to be become a Chartered Accountant and reaching the finals again feels like another step closer in achieving my dream.”
Joanne, Business Partner Finance Team Leader, with her team of seven staff have also reached the final against some very accomplished competition. Finalists in this category include Markes International Limited, FEI Foods Limited, Vista Retail Support plus other established financial teams.
Joanne said:
“I am delighted that my team has been shortlisted for such a prestigious award. We have worked hard over the past year to maintain the highest standards possible. To be recognised at this level is testament to the dedication & professionalism of the team and shows we are able to compete with the best in Wales.”
