As part of a joint venture with Welsh Government high quality business space has been created at the Hybrid Units at Lime Avenue.
Lime Avenue comprises of three separate buildings housing nine units and are ideal for tech-based businesses with key growth aspirations. A further innovative development at the Works site, known as the Bocs Hwb, offers a range of premises which are offices transformed from shipping containers. These futuristic premises are ideal for businesses and entrepreneurs and will be launched later this year and was funded by WG (Nick Landers – Transforming Towns or VVP).
Blaenau Gwent Council have now taken possession of both developments and already global technology leader Thales have taken occupation of five Hybrid Units.
Councillor Dai Davies, Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Regeneration and Economic Development commented:
"This is an exciting development for Blaenau Gwent which continues to enhance the regeneration of the strategic Works site. This will provide an excellent opportunity for businesses to grow and develop in the area whilst creating employment and help support local supply chains.”
The Tech Valleys programme is a ten-year, £100 million commitment by the Welsh Government with Blaenau Gwent at its heart. Building on the region’s long-standing manufacturing heritage, Tech Valleys aims to capitalise on the opportunities arising from the fourth industrial revolution – particularly in the areas of 5G, battery technology, digital and cyber research and application – supporting high value, sustainable jobs, attracting investment and creating opportunities for the region. In line with the Welsh Government’s Economic Action Plan, the Tech Valleys programme has the principles of growth, fair work and decarbonisation at its heart.
