Voting by post/proxy

Postal Votes are available to anyone who is registered to vote.

Applying to Vote by Post

If you are registered to vote you can contact us to receive a postal vote application form in the post. The form will already contain some of your details.  You will have to complete your date of birth and sign the form. These details are checked when you vote by post to prevent fraud and to protect your vote.

If you decide to register as a postal voter you cannot vote in person at a polling station.

Applying to Vote By Post When an Election is Taking Place

Applications for a postal vote must be received no later than 5 p.m. eleven working days before Election Day.

Applying to Vote by Proxy

Please contact us to vote by proxy, either as a one-off or permanently.

If you appoint a proxy, you can still attend a polling station and personally cast your vote provided that the proxy has not already voted on your behalf or asked for a postal vote.
