Since 2019 all Local Authorities in Wales have received funding from Welsh Government, known as the ‘Period Dignity Grant’, to help tackle period poverty across Wales. Everyone should have access to period products, as and when they are required, to use in a private space that is safe and dignified.
Every school in Blaenau Gwent has a range of sanitary products (both disposable and reusable) that are available to all who need them. We are also working hard with community groups to ensure that we reach as many people as possible. We want to break the stigma and taboos around periods and normalise them in our schools and communities.
Products available are (but not limited to):
- Reusable pants
- Reusable pads
- Menstrual cups
- Disposable tampons and pads
- Dad packs
- On the go kits
- My first period pack
There are over 50 venues across the Borough where free sanitary products are available. These include leisure centres, youth centres, food banks, libraries, community centres, Flying Start hubs.
If you know of any organisation/group who would be interested in receiving products please contact emma.jones@blaenau-gwent.gov.uk
