Project Update: The Tredegar Arms, Morgan Street, Tredegar

One of Tredegar’s finest heritage assets; The Tredegar Arms is continuing with its conservation works to bring the building back to life.

Through a combination of Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) grant funding, significant owner investment and a committed workforce this once derelict building is receiving a conservation sensitive treatment to ensure its future is safeguarded.

Cllr Dai Davies, Executive Member for Regeneration and Economic Development from Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council Said:

“Major renovation works commenced in January 2017 and considerable progress has been made. The building has received new roof coverings, render, windows, entrance portico and decoration as well as extensive works to the internal space in order to bring the building back into use as a hotel. The next phase of work is the construction of a complementary extension to house the function room. The project is programmed to complete in winter 2018. As part of delivering the project we are also ensuring that training opportunities are available to enhance the skills in the area.”

The owners of the Tredegar Arms have said:

“We are grateful for the THI grant funding which is supporting our financial contribution enabling our vision for this building to be realised. We are also delighted with the progress being made on the building project by the contractors and sub-contractors.”
