New Youth Mayor for Blaenau Gwent

Samuel Taylor, aged 15, was delighted to take up office, saying:

Following a very successful year as Deputy Youth Mayor I am very proud to be given the further opportunity to represent Blaenau Gwent for another year in the position of Youth Mayor. I am thankful for all of the opportunities I have had in my position and I look forward to all those yet to come and I am very grateful for the honour of being able to represent the young people of the borough.’

Elisha Parsons was inaugurated as Deputy Youth Mayor.

The Political Editor for ITV Cymru Wales, Adrian Masters gave an introduction to the evening and Blaenau Gwent Council’s Executive Member for Education and Children’s Champion, Cllr Clive Meredith carried out the official presentation.

Guests were also treated to performances from several local talented young people including the Blaenau Gwent Young Stars, Beth & George, Autumn Mason and Jenna Bees. It is an exciting time to join the Blaenau Gwent Youth Forum as they will be working to make sure that young people are heard over several topical and important issues such as mental health, bullying and LGBT issues.
