Following on from the success of last year’s show the 2019 STEM Inspiration Event, organised by Blaenau Gwent CBC and Careers Wales, will be highlighting a wide range of career routes available to year 9 pupils in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
The event takes will take place on 7th February at Ebbw Vale Sports Centre and will showcase a variety of interactive activities to engage with pupils from Abertillery, Brynmawr, Ebbw Fawr and Tredegar Comprehensive Schools.
The first Inspiration Event in 2018 was attended by approximately 450 students and 20 employers. Feedback from businesses, teachers and students was overwhelmingly positive, so it was agreed amongst the sponsors that a repeat event would be arranged.
This year sponsors are confident of an increased footfall, especially as additional businesses and employers will be in attendance. Many of the stands will again showcase interactive activities, as this proved to be a big success with pupils. The links between STEM subjects and industry can clearly be seen throughout the event, which also highlight the benefits of an apprenticeship as an alternative to University.
