Coronavirus Guidance for Allotment Holders

Do not attend the plot if you have coronavirus symptoms or a family member is self-isolating.

  • If you attend the allotment as part of your daily exercise, then it is recommended that you attend for the shortest amount of time possible (government guidelines recommends a maximum of 1hr daily exercise):
  • Take a flask of hot water, soap and paper towels to the plot with you so that you have individual  access to facilities to wash your hands and are not sharing with others not of your household.
  • Use hand sanitiser (this should be a minimum of 60% alcohol content) before entering the site and prior to opening/locking any gate locks or alternatively wash your hands for 20 seconds, dry with a paper towel before opening and closing the locks to enter or leave the site
  • Wash your hands immediately when you return home. Practice good respiratory hygiene at all times.

  • DO NOT touch your face after using anything that has been touched by other people.
  • DO NOT gather together for a chat even if you are 2 metres apart.
  • DO NOT share tools.
  • DO NOT wash your hands in water troughs.

General information:

If you take your children to the plot as part of their permitted daily exercise, ensure that they stay within the plot and do not run around on communal paths and spaces.

Please remember: that non - essential travel is still to be adhered to and you should walk to the plot if at all possible and do not take public transport. You may be challenged by the Police regarding the purpose of your journey.

If you are self-isolating or shielding, then you should follow the guidance issued to you by the government and seek assistance from other at the allotment or the persons in charge.
