People across the UK will join millions around the world in the largest celebration of entrepreneurship and start up culture for Global Entrepreneurship Week. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the UK entrepreneurs and the companies they create.
Over 170 countries will be celebrating, with 35,000 events being organised during the week – connecting more that million participants to potential collaborators, mentors and investors. Blaenau Gwent will join in with the celebrations. A series of events are being held this week in the Borough for new and existing businesses and entrepreneurs:
BG Effect Network – celebrating fourth anniversary of this networking event

Big Ideas Wales – Innovation In The Digital World
• Free seminar called for young people (between ages 16-25) who want to start a business and encourage entrepreneurial skills in whatever careers they chose. Topics will include importance of digital innovation and seizing the opportunity in the digital revolution.

During Global Entrepreneurship Week, Blaenau Gwent Council’s Economic Development Team is organising and facilitating a number of events for those who may have an idea for a business start-up or whether you are an existing business and therefore potentially looking to grow. There will be events to cater for the different target audiences such as women in business, helping young people to become entrepreneurs in the digital era and networking opportunities.
