Heroes assemble! Be proud of being Welsh this St David’s Day and join us for Spring Clean Cymru 2018 - a nationwide campaign encouraging people across Wales to get together to help clean up our beautiful Cymru!
Kicking off on 1st March you will have the opportunity to register your own clean-up event, access free resources and information all while doing something really great in your community. Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council is encouraging everyone to do their bit and make a difference. Whether it’s becoming a Litter Hero, or simply not dropping litter in the first place. With a few changes, and a little teamwork, we can create an environment we are all proud to enjoy.
Part of the Great British Spring Clean, Keep Wales Tidy wants to inspire the people of Wales to get outdoors, to be active and to be proud of where they live.
Community groups, schools and businesses will all be taking part in four days of action from 1st – 4th March. Blaenau Gwent clean-up events will take place on 2nd March 2018 at Deighton Primary School Tredegar and at the Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone and General Offices site in Ebbw Vale.
Headteacher of Deighton Primary School, Mike Gough said: “At Deighton we encourage our learners to be ethically informed citizens of Wales and the wider world. At a local level, this type of hands on work is vital in embedding in them a sense of ownership and in keeping their immediate environment fit for all members of our community to use. We are really pleased that Blaenau Gwent is beginning this type of initiative and our learners will greatly benefit from being involved, as will all members of our surrounding community.”
Cllr Garth Collier, Executive Member for Environment, Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council said: “We are very thankful for the continual hard work the Litter Champions do throughout Blaenau Gwent. They are very hard working and dedicated in their duties in making the environment a better place to live. We would also like to thank the young people and teachers of Deighton Primary School in Tredegar in advance for their litter pick planned for 2nd March 2018.”
