Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council has met its recycling target for 2019-20 set by Welsh Government.
A report was presented and moved at Council Scrutiny (Monday 21st September) and welcomes the figures confirming that Blaenau Gwent has achieved 65.31% recycling target, exceeding Welsh Governments set target of 64%. This ranks Blaenau Gwent 11th overall in Wales compared to other Welsh Authorities.
Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, Executive Member For Environment, Cllr Joanna Wilkins says:
“I am extremely proud of our recycling performance. We have built on the success of last year and continue to increase our performance each year. This has been achieved through hard work and dedication. I would like to thank our residents for continuing to recycle and thinking more about how they dispose of their waste and our recycling and waste frontline workers who have continued to work throughout these challenging times. We can all make a difference and every single person that recycles their waste is helping tackle the climate emergency, by saving energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
“Welsh Government’s target will increase to 70%. More can still be done and I would like to encourage our residents to keep recycling.
