Blaenau Gwent Apprentice Wins Award

An Aspire Blaenau Gwent apprentice has recently won a prestigious Welsh skills competition. Macaulay Webber, an Information Technology apprentice has been hosted with PCI Pharma Services since November 2016 through the Aspire programme was presented with the award at a recent ceremony held in Cardiff.

WorldSkills UK IT Software Solutions for Business competitions focus on all the essential requirements for a successful career as a Microsoft Applications Specialist, working in the IT department of any organisation.

Macaulay was successful in a series of practical tasks to demonstrate his abilities and skills in a whole range of Microsoft Applications. These include working with content and data:

• Formatting Content
• Organising Content
• Organizing and Analysing Data
• Formatting Data and Content
• Managing Data and Workbooks

Macaulay said:

“The practical experience and knowledge that you gain in a placement with Aspire is invaluable and allows you to put what you learn in university in to practice in real live projects. In reverse it gives you the practical knowledge I have gained at PCI in Tredegar with the help of my line manager Colin gives a better understand the content being taught. I believe this combination for education and practical experience managed by Aspire has accelerated my personnel development and established essential skills for the future.”
