A Proud Moment for Blaenau Gwent at 10 Downing Street

We’re delighted to share that Lee A’Herne, Chairman of Parc Bryn Bach Running Club, was invited by Nick Smith MP to a special St David’s Day reception at 10 Downing Street.

Lee joined an incredible line-up of Welsh talent and public figures — including the Welsh football team, world‑renowned opera singer Katherine Jenkins, and many others — to celebrate Wales and the people who help shape its communities.

Proudly hailing from Blaenau Gwent, Lee has spent years championing community sport, wellbeing, and local pride. His leadership at Parc Bryn Bach and dedication to grassroots running have made him a respected figure across the region.

Lee also worked closely with the Council to progress the campaign for a statue honouring Steve Jones MBE at Ebbw Vale Sports Centre. This project perfectly embodies the ethos of the Blaenau Gwent Deal — showcasing how the community and the Council can work side‑by‑side to deliver meaningful, lasting benefits for local people.

This invitation to Downing Street is a fantastic recognition of Lee’s commitment to Blaenau Gwent, his passion for sport, and the community he proudly represents.

Llongyfarchiadau, Lee — a truly well‑deserved honour. 🏅✨
