Strong partnership working has been established between the Council, industry and Welsh and international universities leading in world-class Research and Development. This collaborative working is a great example of higher education supporting innovation and knowledge. The Learning Zone in Ebbw Vale also has an excellent reputation for vocational and further education, attracting students from the whole of the South East Wales area. In turn, the college is supported by a wide range of top quality public secondary schools.
Tourism
Blaenau Gwent has a rich heritage, with every town and village having many stories to tell of their past.
Our rich, but relatively new tourism offer, with sites from the Industrial Revolution, and as far back as prehistory, have only been promoted as a tourism destination for the last 30 years.
Whilst the heritage story is very clear, there are many other elements that people might overlook. Beyond the wonderful open spaces, the area also has a number of other attractions, such as outdoor activities, museums and great shopping opportunities.
